Shepherd Access Point

Overview

The Shepherd Access Point is the gateway between several TeleTags and a Wi-Fi network. Access Points are designed to be small and light-weight and can be powered in several ways, including internal rechargeable batteries, wall chargers or co-located PCs. They can therefore be installed in any location thus eliminating network blind spots and maximizing flexibility.

Access Points contain a color LCD screen which can be programmed to display the current status of all TeleTags transmitting to the Access Point or a battery icon to monitor voltage. Access Points also contain built-in temperature sensors which can relay information to other systems, such as a Building Automation System, and a speaker for audible alert notifications.

Access Points will utilize existing infrastructure where present (i.e. routers, etc.) rather than requiring a parallel system. The driving idea is to minimize the requirement for new equipment and to maximize the utility of legacy systems.
